Elliott Castillo is a solution architect at Apstra focusing on the development of Intent Based Networking for operational efficiency and the simplification of data center networks. His experience within the networking industry and his focus on automation have always taken a practical tone, focusing on how network operators can deploy applications faster and more cost effectively. Holding a Computer Science degree from Bowdoin College (Maine), with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence, Elliott has spent much of his career developing a model for how the network and the operator interact and specifying the lifecycle of changes and how they are driven by automation. Elliott co-designed the foundational framework of the Comcast Programmable Network Platform and has championed the development of industry-wide Network Programmer training to achieve the organizational transformation required in a more software-driven network. Prior to Comcast, Elliott was at Cisco building telemetry solutions for business services, modeling network capacity, developing architectures for both Core and Metro-Ethernet services and designing and implementing a methodology for modeling Total Cost of Ownership across a network install base. Elliott’s current work focuses on the practical operationalization of utilities and integrations that leverage the power of Intent-Based Networking
