As companies grow and expand, more and more employees are working on multi-location teams. In some cases, teams must overcome both geographical and time zone challenges in order to successfully complete their projects. In this talk, we will begin by discussing the pros and cons of sitting apart. Then, we will describe some of the methodologies and tools that improve collaboration at a distance. We will use examples and study results to help attendees more closely examine what is working, what is not, and what is possible in their own working situations. Finally, we will examine what, if anything, is unique about remote working challenges in the IT community. This is a session created for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the increasingly disparate workplace and how to successfully lead and contribute to teams that are sitting apart.
