In this session, you'll hear how one company migrated a legacy Oracle-based business intelligence application to AWS. We'll take you through the entire decision and implementation process, including:

  • Solution architecture and incremental transition to cloud
  • Why AWS was selected
  • Migrating from Oracle to Redshift on the front-end
  • Transitioning from Oracle stored procedures to Spark for ETL
  • Applying serverless (Lambda, Step Functions) to back-end administrative processes

While the talk will focus on AWS in particular, it will speak more broadly about serverless and cloud data warehouses can be used to make this type of migration from on-prem to any public cloud that offers these categories of services.
