CASE STUDY: Toromont Industries has been developing a new analytics platform for the last 3 years. As the authorized Caterpillar equipment dealer in Eastern Canada, Toromont is gaining dramatic new insights through sensor data from thousands of construction and mining machines, combined with customer relationship and a broad range of other contextual data. A variety of algorithms have been developed which uncover real value creation opportunities. This session will discuss topics including the strategy and why an analytics-based approach is critical to the company's future, how growth is achieved through analytics, adoption success and failure, pushback and "yeah, but" moments. A technical view will also be presented, explaining the current architecture in use, and what the company would do differently if starting again.
