Maintaining a large infrastructure footprint can be difficult. Understanding where in its lifecycle that equipment is and developing a plan to refresh aging equipment is even harder. Not only do you have to align your infrastructure to a vendor's sales and support lifecycle, but you have to figure out how much it may cost to replace the equipment, how long will it take you, and how you are actually going to get the new infrastructure deployed. If you've found yourself in this situation like I have, I've found a useful framework to help you sort through those hurdles. We'll take a look at identifying where your equipment is in terms of vendor support vs. actual useful lifecycle, gauging what the expected lifecycle could be, understanding total cost of ownership, and developing a timeline of events to refresh your equipment in a methodical, planned approach so you aren't left scrambling. You'll walk away from this session with a useful framework to help you plan your replacement activities and to be able to shed light on what it really costs to run your infrastructure.
