Byron Schaller, Principal Architect, RoundTower Technologies
As a Principal Architect focused on Emerging Technologies, Byron Schaller brings over 18 years of practical experience in Agile Development, Enterprise Cloud Architecture, and DevOps Transformation to RoundTower Technologies ("RTT"). Byron joined RTT after spending 2 years with VMware, where he was responsible for the automation and orchestration of the global infrastructure and software lifecycle management of over ten thousand nodes on 5 continents for the vCloud Air Service. As the Lead Platform Architect for Deployment Automation, he was responsible for the architectural leadership of the Project Zombie platform automation team and served as an advisory architect to the vSphere, NSX, and vCloud Director development teams. Byron also led the vCloud Air DevOps transformation effort and drove the adoption of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. Finally, he was responsible for providing cloud adoption guidance and strategy to enterprise clients as the transitioned to the VCA service.Byron began his IT career as a systems developer, before spending twelve years consulting in Enterprise Architecture, nine of which were at IBM Global Services. While at IBM, Byron was a founding member of the Enterprise Virtualization services team and helped several Fortune 100 companies with their early adoption of VMware technologies. Byron has received the VMware vExpert award 3 times, was a member the vCloud Air Architectural Governance Council, was elected to the IBM Solution Design Center of Excellence, and is a contributor to several Open Source software projects. In addition to studies at Purdue University, he is a VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX #231) in Data Center Virtualization and has earned the VMware Certified Advanced Professional certification in Cloud Infrastructure Design (VCAP-CID), as well as the Amazon Web Services Certified Solutions Architect Proffesional. Byron also holds certifications from Microsoft, EMC, Netapp, Cisco, Brocade, Tintri, PernixData, Zerto, and ITIL.
