Denise Donohue, Network Architect, Chesapeake NetCraftsmen
Denise Donohue is a Business Architect and Healthcare Practice Lead at NetCraftsmen. She was smitten with technology when she met her first mainframe in college. Her first career was as an economist, where programming computers was a vital skill. Later she co-founded a company that helped small to medium-sized companies get started with servers, end-user computers, and simple networks. It was there she discovered that routers and switches were much more fun than servers and desktops, and her career took another turn. She eventually sold her part of the business to go into networking full time. Denise taught networking classes for four years before turning to presales and then network architecture. She has written or co-written twelve books for Cisco Press covering network and voice technologies. The latest, "The Art of Network Architecture", deals with the intersection of technology and business. Denise remains fascinated by technology, inspired by advances in our field, and hopeful for the ability of technology to improve our lives. She holds a BS in Economics from the University of Florida and CCIE #9566 in Routing and Switching. Denise is on Twitter as @LadyNetwkr.
